What data is collected by the ESP Integrations?

The short answer:

No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected.

The detailed answer:

Only anonymous engagement statistics are collected by the plugins from your email service provider (ESP) for analysis in the SendForensics system i.e. no email addresses from your lists, or any other PII.

If it is a campaign-based plugin, these statistics are for an individual campaign. If it is a transactional plugin, then the statistics are a daily count for all emails sent that day, with the rate metrics calculated and displayed as an aggregate. These are then analysed for deliverability issues, with the option to trigger alerts via email/slack and/or webhook should any be found (see Domain settings > Alerts).

Where available, the statistics collected are:

  • Number of emails sent
  • Number of emails delivered
  • Number of bounces (hard + soft)
  • Number of unique opens
  • Number of unique clicks
  • Number of unsubscribes
  • Number of spam complaints

Note that SendForensics calculates the metrics from this raw data using industry standard definitions, since some ESPs use their own definitions for well-known metrics (e.g. using Click-to-open rate for Open rate etc).

Note also that not all ESPs offer all of these statistics. When a plugin is selected for activation in Domain Settings, you will be able to see what is available from that particular ESP.
