How do I update an existing DMARC record for SendForensics processing?

No existing RUA report processing

You may have a very simple DMARC record with only the minimum required to be valid, with no email address included to accept and process DMARC RUA reports (from global ISPs). It is very easy to add your SendForensics RUA processing address (user menu > Addresses) to this without changing any of the record's function.

For example, if this is your existing record:

_dmarc.yourdomain.com  TXT  "v=DMARC1; p=none"

You can add your SendForensics RUA processing address as follows:

_dmarc.yourdomain.com  TXT  "v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:rua-import-xxxx@sendforensics.com"

Existing RUA report processing

You may already be instructing DMARC reporting data to be sent to an email address for processing, but the protocol does allow for two (even three) processing addresses so the reporting data can also be sent to SendForensics without any disruption.

For example, if this is your existing record:

_dmarc.yourdomain.com  TXT  "v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:address@domain.com; ruf=mailto:address@domain.com"

To enable SendForensics processing and analysis, you would simply add your unique RUA processing address (found on the Addresses page within your account) as follows:

_dmarc.yourdomain.com  TXT  "v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:address@domain.com,mailto:rua-import-xxxx@sendforensics.com; ruf=mailto:address@domain.com"

Warning: Be careful not to exceed the 255 character-limit for TXT records i.e. the above can't be longer than 255 characters.
